 Two green orbs stare across an unusual landscape. A noticeable frown passes beneath them as they peer further and over a wider area. The weight of the face behind them shifts from side to side, and the body beneath is no different. Looking down she sees her foot planted down on a wooden base—It is a long bamboo shoot that embeds itself in her small foot. In front of her she can see a wet landscape. Several bodies of water have grown into the earth. Some fairly large and others fairly small. Within these marshy areas there stand numerous more of the thick branches, like the one under her foot. Time passed for what appeared an eternity. And only after an eternity did she finally breathe. She heaved, and allowed a gust of air to enter her lungs. Then she let go, and the air left her again. Rapidly, the air moved in and out of her as she continued to focus her eyes forward. ”Y-you’re not done now.. Are you? I can..” She took in another deep breath. ”I'm not done yet!” The brunette, Azusa Hoshikawa, said that with confidence. Yet, a second did not pass before her body shifted. She nearly stumbled to the side. Before it was obvious, she pushed her weight in the other direction. Her hands gripped her green jacket as if to hold it in place. Some distance away there was another girl. One just like her. While their appearance and attitudes were different, they were both roughed up the same. Having been practicing since early this morning, their bodies were finally experiencing fatigue. No matter how motivated they were, even that had its limits, and Azusa was reaching hers. |

 | Continued laboured breathing was a testament to her growing exhaustion. However, she could not allow her posture to crumble or her leg's constitution to become gelatinous. In doing so, she would fall off of the bamboo shoot she was perched atop of. Her foot kept her upright, her coal-like pupils focused forward across the vegetation peppered marshland. Over the span of the day, the allure of the natural bodies of water surrounding them increased as the sheen of sweat painting her body flourished. Her personal attire, consisting of a psuedo black skirt, a crimson blouse, thighhighs of mismatched length and boots, were as matted to her as the dark locks of hair that bordered her face.
This type of exercise would have been simple should she be entitled to use her unique eyes, but that would defeat the purpose of the training. Should her eyes fail her, she needed to be able to defend herself against adversity regardless! Slowly, she exhaled, looking down for but a moment before she focused her tired, grey eyes on the other girl a ways away from her. Vigour found her body once again as she slowly adopted a stance; palm overturned, one fist back, aside from footwork she could not assume while on a bamboo shoot, it mirrored a Wing Chun front stance. Even without the aid of her doujutsu, her eyes boasted a frightening cold composure.
Just as her body was about to jerk forward, she dropped everything. Well, she didn't drop herself to the ground, she just dropped the serious look on her face, the stance, and sighed heavily. She clasped both hands together as though begging, and lowered her head.
"Ahh! Azusa-chan! I give up, you win! Let's do something more fun now. Will you pleaaaseee go out with me? Yeah! Will you go on a date with me?!"

Azusa’s eyes jerked. She jumped in her skin as she noticed the tiny bit of movement her opponent made. She tried her hardest to shift her body into a defensive stance, and yet every muscle ached. The best she could do was to hold one arm up and another at her side. Her legs then shifted beneath her, undecided whether they would collapse her remain strong. A serious look appeared on her face as she prepared herself for what was to come. But the, nothing did come. Instead of another blow. Instead of another attack. What she got was nothing, and this made her raise an eye brow. That brow then raised more as the other girl clasped her hands and then spoke. ”Huh!?” Raising a brow was not enough. Azusa found herself slipping backwards—Falling backwards. She tumbled back, and just barely padded the descent into the water with her legs. ”Seriously?” A now soaked Azusa cried out as she placed a hand on each hip. ”We were going to seriously be serious about this right?” Her arms moved across her chest. Then her eyes shifted away from the other girl. ’What do I say now?’ She grasped a strand of her hair as she asked herself this. The normally motivated and confidant Azusa was forced to meditate on her next action. It was not that she was against it. She did not dislike the girl. But there was something else. It was something she wanted to focus on. And it was not like To-chan was serious—Right? She did not know. She never knew. That is why she replied the same way she always did. ”The jounin exams, remember. I said I wanted to prepare for them first. And you said you’d help. And so we should..” She was interrupted. Before she could say that they should continue training, a large sound ripped through the air. At first it sounded like a beast. Yet, as it played out it was soon evident that it was none other than the sound of the brunette’s stomach. ”I’ll.. You’ll..” A rare blush appeared on her face. Still thinking about the question, but also about this unexpected betrayal of her body, she could only tell the other girl. ”F-fine.. Time to eat.. But you better take responsibility and pay!” After saying this, she looked away again. This time showing a noticeable pout. |

| "A-azusa-chan?!" Tooru cried out as she witnessed the other girl plummet, momentarily reaching out towards her as if that could somehow stop the brunette's descent. Of course, that effort was fruitless in the long run, but what it did do was mark that this training session was most likely over. With that in mind, the Uchiha clanswoman abandoned her post on top of the bamboo shoot, leaping off and landing atop the water. The chakra focused in the soles of her feet allowed her to sustain herself on top of it without sinking through the liquid like stone.
"W-well, we were totally serious about being serious the whole day, right? So we should definitely have a break!" Tooru said, grinning weakly and rubbing the back of her head with her hand as a persistent sweat drop ran down her cheek. She defended her decision to abandon their training in favour of doing something else. Her own body ached with a dull, overbearing pain. What the Uchiha was trying to say was that over-training would only lessen their gains in the long run.
She laughed nervously when she heard her Azusa mention her promise. She was about to reply to her, but before she could get a word out, a voracious beast made its presence known in the form of the other girl's stomach. "Heh heh..." Tooru said, rubbing her finger under her nose. It seemed more things other than people had the ability to betray.
"Yahoo~ lucky, lucky!" The brunette jumped in the air and threw her fist towards the sky, cheering in celebration of her success. When she landed, she continued to speak in retrospect. "And I am gonna help you with that, but Azusa-chan. Don't worry, I always keep my word; that's my ninja way! We just gotta make sure we don't over-train, 'cause then we wouldn't be able to train anymore." Her teeth sparkled as she gave her a winning smile and a thumbs up. "Now..."
The woman parked her hands behind her head like makeshift pillows. "How about we head over to Ichiraku?!"

”And now that’s the problem.” This is what Azusa said after hearing her partner say that they should not overdo the training. Then after saying it, Azusa placed a hand on her thigh. She used her other hand to hold onto the bamboo shoot as she lifted one leg and massaged the muscle. After she did this, the foot went back in the water and she crossed her two arms. ”You can’t let your body decide whether you are done training or not.” She nodded her head matter-of-factly. Her eyes were not on Tooru, but instead on some visage far in front of her. Then as if speaking like a scholar she nodded her head up and down again and explained, ”You need to be in charge. See.. I’m fine. Ready to go another round!” She brought her hand down on the other thigh, the one without the massage. Her body shook. She nearly fell again. So sharp was the pain that she would have preferred a knife to the leg instead. ”Completely perfect,” She said as she took an unexpected amount of effort to show a thumbs up. Tears formed at the corners of her eyes, but her expression was one of confidence. ”Ramen sounds good though. Sitting down for a bit does not sound terrible either.”She crossed her arms again before lifting her leg free from the water. Then she slowly made her way to the edge of the pond before pulling herself out. ”And I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to try that new item on their menu.”Now that she convinced herself that they were only taking a break from training, Azusa led the way towards the entrance of the training grounds, and back into town. |

| Tooru's gaze dropped towards the thigh Azusa was further accentuating with her gesture. For a small moment, the Uchiha's expression seemed to become blank as she listened to the explanation and watched the demonstration. To verify her alleged unscathed body, she brought her hand down on the opposite thigh. Even without being augmented by chakra, her acute attention to detail allowed her to very quickly see just how much the contact affected her teammate, which simply resulted in Tooru rubbing the back of her head and laughing nervously. "Ah hah, could have fooled me, Azusa-chan..."
Her spirits seemed to be lifted once again even though she wasn't quite convinced, due to Azusa agreeing to having ramen with her. "So that means you are agreeing to go on a date with me, huh, Azu-chan?~ Ah~ I'm the luckiest girl in the world!" The enthsiasm was written all over her face as she clenched her fist and pumped it, before her excited gait carried her towards the training ground's entrance, hurried until she was ahead of her teammate, and then she pivoted, turned around, and continued walking towards the entrance; except she was walking backwards towards it so she could face Azusa.
"If that's what you're gonna get, then I'll get the same~" She giggled, clasping her hands together behind her back, "ah—what do you think they're all gonna say? I bet they're gonna be jealous that the untalented clown Tooru is on a date with the prettiest ninja in the whole world~"
