BIOGRAPHY

Life with the Hoshikawa family is never serious. Even when the Leaf Village has been in dire straights, this family has always remained positive. It is an obligation on their part to shine no matter how bleak it is. That is because they are the town's performers. Using their manipulation of lights and illusions, they are illusionists, magicians, side shows and attractions. Everyone in the family has those motivations, and the few that do not use their magic in combat to distract or entertain enemies on the battlefield.

Azusa could never be like the rest. At a young age, she enjoyed her family's festivities. Day after day, year after year, she would enjoy the shows that her family put on. And then, over time, she grew bored of it. Bored of everything. This started with boredom from the shows. Then boredom with her family. While her family was entertaining, for a while, they did not compare to the other families in the village. They were no Nara. They were no Uchiha. They were no Uzumaki. They were a laugh, and nothing more.

As Azusa broadened her horizons, and learned more about the village she lived in, the smaller she felt. The weaker she felt. The more naive she felt. She knew she had to change something.

She abandoned her family's teachings at a young age. Rather than learning ninjutsu to continue her family's traditions, she learned it to create new ninjutsu. She'd leave her home and head to the nearby training grounds. There she would observe the ninja training. Whenever there was an event in the village, such as the chuunin exams, she would watch. When she was not watching others, she was reading books on ninjutsu and chakra control.

Substitution ninjutsu was a start. She learned it at a younger age than normal.

Shadow clones was a lost cause. Though she could use the ninja magic, the glow of her body revealed her true self.

Genjutsu was something her family did. She did not want to learn that. Instead, she would make herself stronger. No, that did not work. Instead, she made herself faster.

This led to her repurposing her family's ninjutsu. Instead of using light as a side show, she would use it to propel her in battle. First she created the barriers as stepping stones to bounce about. Then over time she improved upon that. It has only been recently that she learned how to change the elemental properties of the barriers and platforms, allowing her to dash along her walls whether they be flat or vertical.

As the years passed and she developed her fighting style and ninjutsu, she was also excelling as a student of the Ninja School in Konohagakure. While she was not the top of her class, she was close. After graduating she found herself placed in Team 11 alongside an Uchiha and one other. While their ambitions were different, she pushed forward aiming towards her goal. That is, her goal to be something above a performer. Then something above a normal ninja. And now she continues her path of self improvement. Azusa next aims to become a jounin, and then, even she does not know when she will feel accomplished.

To give some information about her family, Azusa is the middle child of three children. She has an older sister, Miru and a younger sister, Airi. Her father is a magician doing shows alongside her uncle. Her mother does flower arrangements. Her uncle has two children, a boy and girl. His wife passed away years ago. Azusa's grandmother, a widow, is a member of the village council.

KEKKEI GENKAI

The Hoshikawa Kekkai Genkai is called Light Release (Kouton). Members of the family have historically combined Wind and Lightning releases to create light based attacks. These attacks can reveal flashy displays or distract other people from something they should be looking at. Azusa has developed her skills with Light Release and Shape Manipulation, allowing her to form barriers of various shapes and sizes using the light. These barriers come in different colors, and typically change colors over time.

When someone from the Hoshikawa family uses Ninjutsu, a aura of light surrounds their body. This is only seen in the original body, and so members of the family are not typically taught ninjutsu like Shadow Clones.

NINJUTSU

NINJUTSU NAME: Substitution Jutsu (Kawarimi no Jutsu)
DESCRIPTION: Azusa switches places with a nearby object. She avoids using this in dark areas because her Kekkai Genkai will have her real body glowing after using the jutsu.

NINJUTSU NAME: Transformation Jutsu (Henge no Jutsu)
DESCRIPTION: Azusa makes herself look like another person, animal or object. While this ninjutsu is in effect, her body has a glowing aura due to her Kekkai Genkai.

NINJUTSU NAME: Shadow Clone Jutsu (Kage Bunshin no Jutsu)
DESCRIPTION: An advance technique that Azusa learned early on. However, its uses are limited because when she uses it, only her real body has the glowing aura. Not the clones.

NINJUTSU NAME: Light Release: Barrier
DESCRIPTION: Azusa will use her ninjutsu to conjure a wall of light. This physical wall can be used to block other ninjutsu, or as an obstacle for other ninja. The barrier shines, brightening a dark area, and it is mostly see through. When this ninjutsu is used, a stream of light will shoot from Azusa forward, and the wall will appear where that stream of light is. If the stream hits a solid surface, it will stop.

NINJUTSU NAME: Light Release: Platform
DESCRIPTION: Similar to Light Release: Barrier, Azusa will solidify her light ninjutsu. This time she will create a platform. These platforms can be parallel with the ground, but in the air, or they can be diagonal and jutting out of the ground. A version of this ninjutsu will only make platforms where Azusa steps.

NINJUTSU NAME: Light-Lightning Release: Electrify
DESCRIPTION: Azusa shifts the balance of Lightning and Wind chakra in one of her platforms or barriers so that it leans more to lightning. Anyone touching the barrier will be immediately electrocuted. Metallic items will also be attracted to the barrier or platform.

NINJUTSU NAME: Light-Wind Release: Arise
DESCRIPTION: Azusa shifts the balance of chakra in her barriers in favor of Wind. When she does this, the barrier or platform will begin to move in the same direction as the wind. If they are to hit a solid object like this, they will immediately shatter.

NINJUTSU NAME: Lightning Release: Magnetic
DESCRIPTION: Azusa magnetizes the soles of her shoes or feet. This will allow her to run across metallic surfaces, or her own electrified barriers.

NINJUTSU NAME: Light Release: Shatter
DESCRIPTION: Azusa can detonate any one of her barriers or platforms. If she does this, they break into shards and cut anyone that the shards strike.

TAIJUTSU

In terms of physical technique and attack, Azusa is quick and flexible. Like a gymnast, she can toss her body through the air as if she weighed nothing. This is only speed and maneuverability, though. In terms of strength, she is fairly lacking. Her tactics in battle tend to involve avoiding getting hit, knowing that getting struck could be dangerous.

She is skilled at using smaller, bladed weapons in both hands. Using her speed and maneuverability she will attack an enemy's opening before escaping to a distance.

GENJUTSU

While most members of the Hoshizawa are quite known for their flashy displays and use of genjutsu, Azusa is not one of those members. Having focused on other techniques, her only skills with genjutsu include parlour tricks and combating genjutsu that she is aware she is under the effect of.
